  • Tax reform could cause "ripple effects" in our community by rearranging how Moab City receives operating funding or by reducing our sales-based taxes.
  • Because of the high tourist visitation to our community, Moab City is designated as a Resort Community by the state of Utah, which enables us to collect a Resort Community Tax.

    tax charts and data

  • Moab City does not currently levy a Property Tax and because of this, we rely heavily on sales based taxes for about 81% of our General Fund Revenue.
  • Moab City's General Fund provides funding for services such as:
    • Public Safety/Animal Control
    • Parks and Recreation
    • Art Programs and Public Art
    • Aquatic & Fitness Center
    • Transportation - Streets/Sidewalks/Trails
    • Planning and Engineering
    • Elections and General Government
    • And other important services

Watch this VIDEO from the UTAH LEAGUE OF CITIES AND TOWNS for a brief explanation of HOW TAX REFORM COULD AFFECT OUR COMMUNITY.
