WE WILL BEGIN REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER SWIM LESSONS on Monday, May 21. Each session will be comprised of 8 classes, Monday through Thursday, for 2 weeks. Each level will have a maximum of 10 children. Fees are $25 per child. Session I will run June 11-21; Session II will run July 9-19 and Session III will run July 30-August 9. Parents may pay in advance for all sessions if desired; however, cutoff date for refunds due to scheduling issues will be June 1. We will have information regarding levels at the front desk when registration starts. All classes will be held between 9:00 and 11:25 a.m.
Water polo has ended for the season. We'll start back up once we generate a little more interest and participation. We also now have water volleyball equipment; if you're interested in starting a league or just have a couple of teams who would like to request regular playtimes, please contact us!
COMING SOON: Cardio Kickboxing with Julie - 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays! Keep an eye on the website!
STEP 'N TONE (M/W 5:30 P.M.) AND TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING (FRI. 8:30 A.M.) WILL BE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED. Tracy has scheduling conflicts with her job and will likely be undergoing surgery as well. Keep an eye on this time slot for new programming. Tracy will be back as soon as possible!
AQUA ZUMBA will be taking a break for a few weeks - Sandi has to undergo surgery but will be back the first of June. Outdoor pools will be open and class will be held outside. Meanwhile, we'll fill that 10:30 a.m. spot with Water Aerobics with Cathy! This is a great moderate-intensity class and perfect for seniors and beginners.
Don't forget our pool and multi-purpose room are available to rent for birthday parties, HOLIDAY PARTIES, meetings and other special events! Call us for our very affordable rates! COMING SOON: prepackaged theme parties - all-inclusive LUAU birthday parties! Parents: don't lift a finger! Let us provide the food, drink decorations and music. We'll be posting details soon!
We are now on Facebook! Like us a lot and share us with your friends and loved ones!!The MRAC provides lockers but locks are not included. Please either bring your own lock or you may purchase a combination lock at the front desk for $3.00. The MRAC strongly recommends that you leave valuables at home, in your car or securely locked in a locker. We cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items. Locks may not be left on lockers overnight. After 24 hours, locks will be cut off and items removed to lost and found.
Utah law requires that children under 3 years of age and children who are not toilet-trained wear swim diapers AND plastic pants. Please, no exceptions. When the pool has to be shut down for treatment following an "accident" it deprives everyone of the use of the pool. This is particularly inconvenient when there is only one pool in use! Please respect other users and properly prepare your child for swimming.
Upon entering the MRAC, all patrons 3 years and older are required to check in at the Front Desk and have their membership ID card scanned in order to gain admittance. A daily pass or guest pass can be purchased for those who do not have an annual membership. All members are required to have their membership ID card or other form of ID (receipt or hand stamp) available to show any MRAC staff member at all times while in the MRAC.
Members are required to enter and exit the facility with all guests signed in under their membership. Guests are expected to follow all MRAC rules and regulations. Disciplinary procedures will be enforced in the same manner as for membership patrons. If discipline is necessary for a guest of the facility because of a violation that typically results in ejection from the facility and/or suspension, the member will be held responsible and will serve the penalty enforced. In other words, if a guest exhibits unacceptable conduct that warrants suspension for one week from the MRAC, the member will serve the suspension as well. If a guest loses or damages equipment, the member must pay to replace the lost or damaged equipment. In addition, the member's guest privileges may be revoked or suspended.
Children under the age of 6 must be directly supervised, at all times, by an individual 14 years or older unless participating in a MRAC program.
Children between the ages of 6 and 10 must be appropriately supervised by an individual 14 years or older unless participating in a MRAC program. The supervising individual may not leave the facility.
Children over the age of 10 may enter the facility independently.
Any individual who lacks the ability to swim the width of the pool may not enter water above their chest.
The Moab Recreation and Aquatic Center is presently accepting applications for summer lifeguards. Applications are available at the Center or download an application from the Moab City website: www.moabcity.org. We will be holding a lifeguard certification course April 26-30. Cost is $50. Must be 15 years of age at time of employment and have guard certification to qualify.
Also, the MRAC is always looking for qualified fitness and aquatic instructors. Certifications are not required for all positions and training will be provided for some positions. Contact Terry at 259-8226.
MRAC is a facility operating for the benefit of Moab and Grand County community patrons. Patrons are expected to join the staff in promoting a pleasant recreational environment. Patrons are asked to use mature judgment in choosing actions, clothing, and language and be sensitive to the message they deliver to other patrons. Patrons should respect the rights of others and are encouraged to display good sportsmanship so that participation in all activities is enjoyable and safe. The behavior of a patron must not disrupt the experience of others. All problems should be reported immediately to MRAC staff on duty.
Rules and policies are posted and/or distributed to all MRAC users. The authority to enforce these policies is vested in the MRAC staff and administrative personnel responsible for facilities and programs. Violations of rules, malicious use or defacing of property, solicitation, verbal abuse, or other violations of the MRAC will not be tolerated. The MRAC Administrative Staff reserves the right to make discretionary adjustment to disciplinary action depending on the circumstances which may include suspension or revoking patron privileges. Patron disciplinary policies will be enforced.
Suspension for the above problems will be decided by the MRAC Manager on a case-by-case basis. The nature and seriousness of the offense will determine the suspension. Refunds will not be granted for suspensions due to disciplinary problems.
Discipline is necessary when any patron exhibits unacceptable conduct. Some examples of unacceptable conduct are:
