Dave is a former City Councilmember, having served two full terms and the remaining two years of another councilmember's term after he left the community. Sakrison's resume also includes three years on the Planning Commission and he's the city's representative to the Grand County Solid Waste District. Having represented the city on numerous boards and agencies, among them the Recreation Board and the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments, he's accumulated over 16 years experience in the city politics.

A lover of the community and canyon country, Dave Sakrison was thrilled to be elected mayor. During his four-year-term, he looks forward to making his mark on city politics by being the most open and accessible mayor in Moab history.

Dave plans to be an advocate for the citizens of Moab, whom he considers to be the most important asset to this vital community, enabling the wide spectrum of opinions to be represented. He also looks forward to building on relationships upstate with the Utah Legislature and fostering open communication with the county and other local, regional and state entities.
